Today is a very special day in Lithuania. All day long there are many events planned in Vilnius for the inauguration of the newly elected President of the Republic of Lithuania, a well-known economist Gitanas Nauseda.

I couldn't go or watch the speeches or events from 10 AM because I went to the Open Art training session.

But I listened to the broadcast in the car on the radio and have been watching the TV broadcast when I returned home.

The reason I tagged this post as "steemleo" is because I wanted to talk about investment and this celebration.

The official cost is 60000 Euros. It might be a lot more, of course but we don't know. Let's say that 60k Euros will be gone after todays's speeches, concerts and receptions.

I know nobody thinks about investments at this time but what if the heads of the state decided that they would rather spend only a fraction of this amount and invest the rest of it in Steem? Let's say about $50k Euros. That's about $56k USD.

In today's prices Lithuania could buy about 186k Steem. With this much Steem they could start a SCOT project for Lithuanians and attract tenths of thousands of new users from our country creating a new coin on Steem Engine. Maybe it could be named LITAS, after our national currency which we changed into euros back in 2014.

The new president is talking about the welfare state, about the respect for each person, about reducing the chasm between the wealthy and the poor.

Investing in Steem would be a risky proposition, of course. But this would not cost the state anything more. Just what they have already put aside to use during this special celebration day.

If successful, this project would empower so many people from our country. They could discover the potential of Steem, multiple tokens from Steem Engine and most importantly, help create a true welfare state where everybody is responsible for their financial independence.

And of course it would give Steem enormous publicity which would attract even more investors.

But of course spending that much money in one day for the state seems less risky than investing in something which may or may not give positive returns for years to come...
