Saturday morning, my brother took me and his wife on a very little tour in Ikeja, should I call it a tour or weekend stress like his wife said? Anyway, I'll let you be the judge of that.
We started our journey from Ikorodu (in Lagos Nigeria) to a confusing location, My brother and his friend kept debating on whether to visit Ikeja or Maryland (they needed to get a new laptop but we had no idea), they finally settled for Ikeja.
My brother's wife and I thought we were going to the cinema at Ikeja mall and got really excited till we drove past and got to computer village Ikeja. Oops! They saw the disappointment on our faces and laughed. On the way there, I had so much fun, I've not had the opportunity to tour Lagos since I arrived here in January and I had to take advantage of this.
After passing through the usual Lagos traffic, we stopped for fuel and luckily, chicken republic was staring right at us, while the driver stayed in line for car fuel, we stayed in line for stomach fuel ๐ and after much debate on what to eat, we all got "chicken pie". As a local woman, I thought It was meat pie (I don't like meat pies) but after taking a bite I fell in love with it.
When we got to the market, I had to keep my phone inside my bag cause it wasn't safe. I've been hearing of computer village and it was everything they described, the place was extremely busy and rowdy, almost all the shops there sold electronic gadgets. Anyway, we walked for hours inside the market searching for a good laptop with good features and at a good price. After much negotiations, we finally got a fairly used at a hundred and eighty thousand Naira (#180,000) I didn't know laptops cost that much.
On the way out, we came across a good restaurant that sold Amala and pounded yam (a type of Yoruba delicacy), My sister in-law was excited as her favorite is Amala and Okra soup, we got in and placed our orders.
After getting the food in takeaways and locating our driver, we headed back home. This time, the driver put on some music, we got yogurts, argued about different types of yogurts and yes! We got stuck in traffic again! This gave me time to see different places and different people.
We finally got home very late in the evening and I took the last picture.
Don't ask me what happened to the food later ๐ .
And as peace offering for taking us to the market instead of the mall, my brother got us cake yesterday so while typing this, my mouth is busy doing justice to cake with a cup coffee.
After Saturday, the electricity distribution company decided to keep us in the dark. They didn't give us light till late last night so I had to post this today ๐คฆ๐ฟ.
Pardon my long write-up, will you? ๐
