When I was in Doha, I saw plenty of these trees. It is a kind of a palm tree, but it can be seen with plenty of fruits.
This picture below shows a bunch of green dates.
Of course, it can grow darker in color.
Since they tend to drop, some are seen wrapped up in nets.
The unrestrained form looks like this.
One only has to look at the ground to know that they are indeed dates!
