The bright blue flowers of the cornflower bob in the breeze of a summers day alongside the bright red petals of poppy flowers. Like little beacons of colour these gorgeous wild flowers and pretty annuals stand out amongst the soft grasses attracting pollinators.
I made a quick study in watercolours to capture the globes of colour that hover amongst the grasses and the delicate petals of the poppies.
I started off by using a masking fluid before applying the background colour and green hues for the grasses. Once the masking was removed I applied the different colours for the flowers before finishing off with some white paint highlights.
