Tree antlers
The branches on this tree remind me of deer antlers, the kind you would find on a great red deer stag. As I was walking towards this tree I heard noises coming from the bracken nearby, I assumed it was a bird or rabbit. Then a squirrel started chattering in the branches of a tree close by, I wasn't near enough to be the subject of his alarms, so I looked down to see what was around him. All of a sudden a small muntjac deer shot out of the bracken and onto the path behind me, it briefly glanced in my direction and then darted off into the tall undergrowth.
I continued walking towards the tree, and then set my sketchbook down on the woodland floor. Kneeling on the carpet of pine needles and leaves I made a sketch of the tree using coloured marker pens.
