Bare branches
The trees in winter reach their bare arms to the sky, stretching out their skeletal fingers. They are the perfect inspiration for a painting.
The Process
I started off by creating a textured acrylic background on the paper, using a combination of black, red, yellow and white acrylic paint. I lifted sections of the paint during the drying process to create a rough textured effect.
Once the acrylic paint was dry I used a combination of pen and paint to add the silhouettes of the trees.
