Sadio Mané, Edward Mendy and Mohammed Salah was nominated for the African best player award but it goes to Sadio Mané. It goes to Sadio Mané because goalkeepers don't always have contribution to goals like midfielders, and attackers, and apart from contribution to goals, all contribution they do didn't always obvious like other players, so I think that's what made the award goes to Sadio Mané. In the season that just ended, Sadio Mané and Edward Mendy won the African cup of nation and Edward Mendy saved a penalty, which help Senegal won the cup because Sadio Mané has already lost the penalty that suppose to make Senegal lead Egypt.
Edward Mendy won World club Cup but Sadio Mané won only the Carabao cup and FA Cup, so if they vote with this characteristics, then Edward Mendy have edge that Sadio Mané but the fact that they recognise the attackers than goalkeepers make them give the award to Sadio Mané. I remember the year they nominated Ican Kasilas and Christiano Ronaldo for the world best, Christiano Ronaldo was given that year because Ronaldo is an attacker and Kasilas is a goalkeeper. Even FIFA recognize attackers than defenders and goalkeepers because attackers are the one scoring the goals that bring money into the pocket of FIFA.
There is so much cheating for the goalkeeper, of which they are the one defending the goals. Maybe defending goals is what FIFA don't even want because it's from goals that they earns most. Edward Mendy deserves the award more than Sadio Mané because they both won the African cup of nation if that's what they want to see and Edward Mendy even won the World Club Cup, it's only the England Cup that Sadio Mané won but some awards that was awarded in premier league that Sadio Mané deserves has been given to Mohammed Salah and it's not those that casted the vote at premier league award would cast the Africa best player vote, they would have vote Mohammed Salah again if they are the one.
The best thing that I think FIFA can do is to make the goal keepers awards differently, nominating goal keeper with players would always result to the same thing that it's been resulting to, goalkeeper can't ever win Balon'Dior, players they nominated with them would always win, they should make the goalkeeper's Balo'Dior differently and there won't be disappointment for the goalkeepers again. They are footballers as well but they are not well recognise by the FIFA and other board of directors in football.
