While working a Persian New Year's event I was surprised that even though the thousand plus capacity event hall was completely full not a single women was wearing a hijab or any other head covering.
You might think that is because all those people were westernized Iranians, well you would be wrong.
I personally checked everyone's ID and close to fifty percent of the people used an Iranian passport as their ID.
In their passport pictures all the women wore a hijab.
I personally don't feel it is anybody's business what you wear on your head whether your motivation is religious modesty or fashion.
What I am against is Sharia Law or for that matter any religious rules that are imposed involuntarily.

In this video Vee reports on the Iranian women fighting against real oppression and protesting against the law making the wearing of the hijab. He also goes over the story of school girls locked inside their burning school because they weren't properly attired for rescue. The absolute best part of the video is the speech by Nasser ridiculing the Muslim brotherhood and their demand for mandatory head coverings for women.
