One thing I don't know and only you could tell me; are the speakers powered by the ADL? Do the speakers also have their own built-in amplifier? (easy to tell if there is a power chord going to the speaks, if not they are passive, but on some possible to bypass power stage) If so, the process becomes a 3 step process rather than 2. You can of course use any recording you are familiar with, better because you'd detect the point that the input stage would be over driven more accurately. I also left out that it's possible for the equipment to be so well matched it doesn't distort, but I've never seen that happen. Trust your ears and memory!
