Images flashed through my head as I trudged through the snow, moving from one horrific image to the next. I had hoped that the cold would help numb the pain and the distance would help put a stop to, or at least slow down, the seemingly endless loop of horror playing inside my mind, but I was wrong. Blood spattered on the walls like the snow sticking all over me, soaking in to my shoes like the melted snow. Looking down I was relieved to see my footsteps were no longer pink, maybe now I can soon get some relief from the agony in my mind.
I could see another car's headlights coming towards me in the distance, a stark contrast to the darkness that surrounded me. I found myself hoping to be picked up again to get out of the cold, but in my heart is that really what I wanted? Or did I want to be swallowed up in the dark cold and silently end my suffering? I knew what my heart wanted, but I also knew I wouldn't be able to stop my body from climbing out of the cold if the option was presented. In the end it was decided for me as the car sped past me not slowing in the slightest. I sighed half in relief and half in despair as my fate was all but sealed now, but I also knew I wouldn't have to live with this pain much longer.
I began to stumble through the snow as I could no longer feel anything past my knees. Soon I found myself falling to the ground without knowing why, realizing I must've tripped without knowing due to my inability to feel anything in my feet. I spun as I fell, landing on the ground staring up at the falling snow. As I stared up at the falling harbingers of by my doom and salvation I relived the moments that had plagued me, pushing me on through the cold. My family ripped to pieces. Blood pooled on the floor and splattered on the walls. The front door ripped off its hinges marred from the claws of a bear, or at least that's what I was told made those marks by the police. Finally, closed my eyes and let the cold swallow that pain as well.
