Many drinks have a deposit on purchase in my province that you can collect at the recycling center. It's a tax on lazy people who don't bother recycling properly and a way for homeless to get money without begging by going through street bins and recycling bins on the kerbs for the correct containers for a deposit.
I collect a bunch of my containers and go once a month to get the money back.
