Lagos is one of the big cities in Nigeria where different people from different states come to get their business done.

Such business can be legal or illegal. In the state of Lagos, as people say you have to struggle to survive.

Gbenga, Ade, Emeka, Ubong and kene were tive friends who just graduated from the same university last year and had justtinished their service this year.

The five of them came together and agreed that it was time they started to get jobs to be able to earn a living and help themselves and their families. Which was the next stage of their lives.

Gbenga who was from Abeokuta in Ogun State was from a family of five, his father was a business man, while his mother was also a business woman. They both did a little bit of buying and selling to be able to take care of Gbenga and his two younger sisters.

They were very relieved that Gbenga was out of school. At least now he could get a job and begin to assist them to see his younger sisters through school. thought his mother.

Ade was a spoilt brat, he was the only child of his parents. His father was the managing director of a big company in Nigeria. His mother was also a manager in one of the telecommunication companies in Lagos State.

Ade had all he ever needed, the things he didn’t need he also got them. His parents were never around to give him a proper upbringing, just that they gave him a huge amount of money any time he asked for it. “Money can take care ofall he needs.” his parents would think.

Emeka who hailed from Onitsha in Anambra State was the third child of Chief and Chief Mrs. Eze, who were Chiefs in their village and prominent people in the society. Despite the difference, Emeka was determined to struggle and work hard to achieve success. He never depended on his parents all the time.

Ubong was from Calabar in Cross Rivers State. Ubong was from a rich background, he lost his mother when he was fifteen years old. After this, his father married a second wife, who became his
step-mother and treated Ubong very badly.

Anytime Ubong wanted something from his father, he was always hushed down by his step mother. She made life miserable for him.

Even though life wasn’t all that easy for him, Ubong was determined to make it in life. With his little pocket money, Ubong started selling clothes in school which was what took care of his life when
he was out of school.

Kene who was from Enugu State, was the only child of a poor carpenter. He also lost his mother during childbirth, while she was giving birth to his sister.

Since then, Kene had only his father Jerome and sister Adana.

Kene was a very brilliant boy filled with wisdom, though he was from a poor home where they barely fed and took care of their other needs with the meagre income from his father’s carpentry work.

Kene was determined to struggle no matter what it was going to take to make it
in life. He would eventually take care of his father and sister when it had become well with him.
