This is a very interesting and important topic. I think that we try to fit more than one meaning into the word "pride". I'll even bet that Biblical scholars who are translating into English from the original languages are using "pride" to translate different words in the original (I am not going to take the time just now to verify that because of time constraints, but that is my guess).

To take "pride" in the results of your work is foolish and sinful because results belongs to God. God might have entirely different plans for the actual outcome of what we are doing than what we thought would be the result.

But to take "pride" in doing the best you can in any endeavor or situation (such as hammering a nail or painting a fence or instructing a child or helping a neighbor in distress) seems to be worshipping God.
