Being a rocker is an important part of Slippy's life; it has been for a long time. His success stems from a defining quality that sets him apart from other rockers: he doesn't follow trends or fads. While other genres and songs address current issues, he prefers to stay true to the roots of his music. He doesn't like to jump on the bandwagon. This has had several effects on his musical career. On the one hand, he's missed many opportunities to sing songs about current controversies that would resonate with people. This has often limited his reach.

But he's gained more than he's lost by remaining true to rock's roots. Many follow him and listen to his music because they know they can find the purest expression of the genre in him. And it's even more satisfying to know that people follow you not because of the moment you played a song, but because they're loyal to what you've been doing from the beginning. Despite everything, Slippy isn't entirely satisfied with what he's achieved. He's had an idea in his head for some time now, one he can't shake. He wants to redirect the focus of his music back to the roots of classic punk. That is, to go even further back than what he already considered classic. He's a lover of the genre, and he's felt for a long time that he needs to return to the core of that kind of music.
When he made the announcement, many of his fans wondered if he was crazy. They couldn't understand how he could change something that had worked for him for so long to pursue a genre that few listened to. There were also those who were happy with his decision because no one had been brave enough to abandon what he had achieved to rescue a forgotten part of classic rock music. After that announcement, he changed his image, his stage attire, and his personal brand shifted from classic rock to classic punk. It was quite a radical change. Some dared to predict that returning to something so old would be a failure; they were sure he would flop and make a fool of himself by going back to what he was doing before.
And this did worry Slippy a little because, even though he knew what he was doing, there was a high risk factor. If no one bought his music or if no one went to the concerts, it would be a failure, and he would have to change everything again, which would be a disgrace to his good image. But there was no going back now, and he was sure it would work; he felt it in his heart. Somewhere in the world, there had to be people who loved classic punk like him. When everything was ready, he released his first punk song, and the results were pretty bad. Few of his current fans liked it; the style was too old-fashioned for them. His advisors kept telling him, "See, we told you so," but he wasn't defeated. He wanted to try again; maybe the poor reception was because no one knew yet that a singer had revived the genre.
The second song he released was slightly better received, but nothing compared to his earlier songs, which had been much more popular. He felt a bit disappointed by the results, but he didn't want to give up. He released a third and then a fourth song. These received the same poor results. For the first time, he started to think that maybe this wasn't such a good idea. But in the comments on one of his songs on social media, someone left a link. And that link led to an entire blog dedicated solely to him. It turned out that all this time he had many fans who followed him because of this new genre, but he hadn't known it.
On the blog, he discovered that many people loved him for his new approach. Some were older people who shared how his songs reminded them of their youth, others of the good times they had listening to that music. All these positive comments encouraged him to continue. He realized that out there in the world, there were still many people who enjoyed the same music as him. And that was enough to keep going with his project. Maybe there would be less income, less fame. But that's nothing compared to the inner satisfaction of feeling that what you do truly has meaning. Slippy will continue playing classic punk for the rest of his life, and that makes him more than happy.
