What Elisa had longed for had finally arrived: finishing her studies to focus on an even better career. She wanted to be a singer. She had finally completed the endless music academy and it was time to start doing what she loved most: singing. She had everything planned for her debut. She had saved a little during her years of study so that when this moment arrived, she would have some funds to make her first music videos. She had also already found some friends who were going to help her with the production and recording of the videos and who were going to charge her very little because they were friends and because it was her first time and they wanted to help her.

She kind of thought that everything would go as planned and that there wouldn't be any setbacks. What a surprise she was in for later because her worst enemy wouldn't be setbacks, but herself. She began writing her first song, crafting it with all the care she could, dedicating several months to polishing it. Then her friends, who were composers at the same academy, helped her compose the music for her song. When everything was ready in a few months, then only the final part of the work remained, which was to record his voice and then start making the video clip.

Everything was going quite well up to this point. But when Elisa recorded her vocals for the song, she noticed something she didn't like. It felt like she wasn't singing well. So she made several attempts to record it to see if it sounded better, but in every take, she sounded the same—in her own style. The others didn't find this strange at all, since it's normal for a song not to be perfect on the first try. So, over several days, they tried again and again, but she wasn't happy with any of them. The problem wasn't that her voice or her singing style had issues; it was something more personal. She was comparing herself to other singers. She saw that their singing was more polished than hers.

So, what she had been trying to do all this time was at least reach that level. But she always felt she fell far short. Because of this, she had to repeat the recording of her song more than 42 times. It was truly astonishing, and her friends were exhausted from having to help her so many times. After those 42 takes, she decided to choose one of the 42 versions. But she didn't do it because she was satisfied with the result; she knew her friends were already tired and were only doing it to help her. So she said that for a first attempt, it was okay, and there would be time to perfect it later.

When she released the song, to her surprise, the public really liked it. It wasn't a massive hit, but people loved it. Her friends were happy because everyone had contributed, and they were glad she had achieved her first success. They celebrated with a private party. In a few weeks, they were ready to help her with the remaining part: the music video of her singing. If they could get the video accepted, they could consider their work complete, and Elisa could continue her music career on her own. They wanted to help her with these first steps. The same thing happened with the video recording as with the song. She was never satisfied, so they had to repeat everything dozens of times. She would watch other singers' videos and then compare her own to hers, and she didn't like what she saw, no matter how well she did.

Like before, she had to choose a version because she couldn't keep dragging it out. Her friends needed to finish, and without them, she couldn't continue, since they did a lot of the work, like the recording and the choreography. So she chose a video, and it was released. The video did much better than the song; in fact, it went viral on several of her social media accounts. Now her friends were truly happy because they had helped her take her first step in music. Elisa, despite always comparing herself to others, realized something.

Although she was never satisfied with the recordings or the music, and her friends never knew, seeing the results of her two projects showed her that your work doesn't have to surpass others to be good. Perhaps it was true that she wasn't quite at the same level as others, but people still loved her and enjoyed what she did. So she learned that she had to avoid comparing herself to others again. Now she could truly celebrate.
