Scientific method of thinking and Scientific model

The scientific method

It is a process that is used to acquire new knowledge, or correcting previous knowledge to be considered scientific. There are 6 total elements that are always used in the scientific method however, they are not always in the same configuration as different methods are used between different categories and disciplines of science.

The 6 elements are observation, questioning, hypothesis, experimenting, analysis and conclusion.

Observation: is something that you have noticed around either with your senses or using gadgets. For example observing flies having faster response time than humans.

Questioning: is the thought of why does the thing you observed occur. For example why can flies have faster reflexes than humans?

Hypothesis: is the potential answer to the question asked earlier, so do flies have better reflexes since their neurons have to carry signals for miniature distances compared to humans.

Experimentation: is ordered investigations applied to proof or disproof the validity of the hypothesis by putting controlled or searching for specific outcomes. So, if flies do have fast reflexes due to their small size. Animals bigger than humans should have slower reflexes.

Analysis: is the gathering of the required information and results of the experiment to compare it to the hypothesis. So after researching and I finding a paper published by the royal society it appears that the larger the animal the slower he distinguish the sensory stimuli and generate graded muscle forces.as increased length require increased diameter to maintain the same ability. That means that bigger animals would indeed have slower reflexes.

Conclusion: is a statement of which states if the hypothesis is indeed supported or refuted by the collected data in the Experimentation and analysis phase and coming up with a theory or return back to the question phase. And I think that the analysis supports my hypothesis.

Note in a real investigation steps might be repeated several times with different questions and experiments before coming up with a conclusion.

Scientific model

It is a representation of an idea, object or a system. It is used to describe and explain a phenomenon that cannot be experienced directly and it is used by scientists in research plus being used to communicate their explanations. Thus a scientific model is used to link theory with experimenting. Scientific models are also used to represent miniature things like atoms, gigantic systems like the water cycle, or they may even represent extinct things that is no longer present in our world like dinosaurs.

Note a scientific model can be an equation, graph, and not necessarily a model. Moreover a model can never be like the real thing, they must have limitations.

Scientific models can be differentiated into 3 different categories, where each category represents the idea in a distinct way not used by the two others.

physical models: are models that are made to show the idea in the physical word. For instance a globe is a physical model, that shows the Earth and can be touched in the real world.

Mathematical Models: are models that convey the idea using graphs laws or diagrams. These models include mathematical rules in physics that are tested by using them to predicate real life occurrences and if they succeed then the idea behind the equation is true. Some examples of scientific models are the Punnet's square, which is a simple diagram used to predict the possibility of a certain gene being inherited by the offspring.

Note: computer simulations and models can be used to create, manipulate and test mathematical models. They are especially useful in models that include multiple variables so they are less liable than humans to make mistakes.

Conceptual Models: These are models that is used to represent a system of ideas or to compare familiar to unfamiliar. The idea of organisms originating from chemicals is a conceptual model.

if you are going to use that for any research purposes please do not just copy and paste. You should try to read and understand what i said, then try to explain it in your own words. you should also try to look from other resources as i am just a student liable to make mistakes.
