PS4 HUD issue

source

Overview of the issue

There has been an infamous issue that has faced numerous amount of people especially when adjusting their PS4 to a relatively new TV (the TV itself is not new but the PS4 has a novel connection to the TV).This problem can be identified as certain HUD (Heads Up Display) being outside of the shown screen with glimpses of them just hanging at the edge.
Examples of this issue are for instance, in FIFA games, both the player indicator and power indicator in both bottom corner might be truly visible, which at minimum can be annoying, moreover in certain games the health bar certain saving icons might not appear clearly.

Why does it happen

To be able to resolve the predicament we should first understand the main issue happens because of over-scans( this is when TV sets position a certain section of the image outside of its boundaries so it is not seen. This happened mainly because TVs in older times used to have variations on how they display their image. Thus nowadays a safe margin is added of black and white dots and the yellow lines to be over-scanned and cropped by the TV. Over-scans were occurrence is common with CRTs Cathode Ray Tube monitor where some lines of the cathode ray literally hit the invisible part of the tube.)
So why does the issue is still present even after the extinction of CRTs. This is due to the fact that TV manufacturers are not sure that the the yellow lines and black and white dots are present. Since they are not sure of good quality images at the edges they crop the sides anyway. In addition in HDTV the additions would appear larger, which could discourage consumers of buying the un-cropped TV for the cropped one adding as an incitement for TV manufacturers to add over-scan.
When there is no over-scan in the video-image shown in the TV This is called 1:1 pixel mapping where one pixel broadcasted to the TV is present as one pixel in the TV. Every TV manufacturer has his own name to describe it in the aspect ratio selection, for instance just scan; screen fit, or dot by dot

Solution

Here is the most simple way to solve the problem, as some people do not know it but in the aspect ratio selections of a plethora of monitors there is a selection called just scan which is present to eliminate over-scan. However not all TV monitors offer that selection to turn off over-scan, hence other endeavors are required to eliminate the issue for your console.
To begin with it is sometimes useful to play with the display settings in your TV, as aforementioned before TV manufacturers sell there TV with different names and options to terminate over-scan so play around until you find a setting that alleviates the problem.
If the problem still persists changing the resolution of your video image through your PS4 can prove useful. This can be changed by accessing the setting menu then progressing through sound and screen then access video output settings and then resolution and playing with it until the problem diminishes. This is the method that worked with me when i changed it from 1080p(progressive scan where all of the lines of a single frame of video. so that each frame has a full image) to 1080i(Interlaced where each other line is shown per frame, so only half of image is present in a frame) which does not make sense when you think about it, but it worked nonetheless.
Also in Sound and Screen menu an option called Display Area Settings can be choosed which can be mitigated to solve the issue, so also change it until the problem does not exist anymore.
Hope that this post can help some people how are facing difficulties with their monitors over-scanning their image especially in gaming.
