It is no news that consumers/customers are always demanding for something, it is either they want you to get a particular product or a certain facility and once you are not able to provide it, lot's of comment begins to spring up from their lips and sometimes you might just get frustrated as an entrepreneur that is unable to adequately meet the needs of consumers.

The obvious thing for some of us who are into start-up is that, we really want to meet the needs of customers but we are usually restricted by certain things such as funds and other rising issues.

I do not have every item required by my customers all the time because I currently do not have the financial capacity to meet their needs at the moment, but there are certain tricks I use that works effectively.
Someone might ask me about how I know my trick works? I certainly know that my trick works because they keep coming back.
So, while I strive to meet the needs of my beloved customers, here are things I do to make them overlook the fact that I have not been able to supply their needs.

  • Recognising the power in effective communication: When my customers have time to spend with me, I also make myself available for them.
Even if sometimes, I get tired of the discussion, I think I am pretty good with hiding my emotions as I discuss with them.
While we discuss, I chip in factors that makes the product I have available different from the initial one they have in mind.

  • One mistake that lot's of business owners make is that, they only relate properly with their customers, do you know there are other potential customers who might even be more loyal in the nearest future.
Act friendly with everyone, either they are your customers currently or not, your attitude might make them become a customer.

  • Have you ever made your customers feel like a royalty before? If you have, I am sure their reaction will want to make you do it again.
Even if they do not deserve it (don't tell them I said that), just give it to them for the sake of your own business and the daily improvement you want to achieve.

  • Listen to their complaints and promise to act on it as soon as you can, do not be too fast to defend yourself.

  • I also feel that being sincere with your customers gives you an edge over certain situations

  • What about that charming smile? A customer walked up to me one day and he said to me, your smile has the power to draw basic attention to your business ( I was excited when I heard that), I go through so much emotional drama but you see that smile is going no where especially during business hours.

I really do hope that my post was helpful, enjoy the rest of the day. I am oluwatobiloba@oluwatobiloba
