I am not too great with highly realistic image editing, but i think your problem here is mostly lighting and positioning/size.
I use mostly gimp to do some stupid looking photo editing for some friends and i taught myself most of it by trial and error.
Other than that maybe look on Youtube for some tutorials or just watch someone work with Photoshop.
