That was a nice trip which could turn into a catastrophe for me but finished well, and I extremely grateful to the young couple who really made not only my day but all the trip to my friends and even more.
Well, do not expect a bloody story - it was only a chance to lose my telephone with all tickets "to and from" and the other vital information in it. My holiday could finish terribly if not these amazing people. But it will be better to start my travel story from the beginning.
My friend from Finland invited me to spend a week with her and celebrate Christmas with her family. The trip there from my place in Estonia takes half a day. I started my journey by bus to Tallinn and was there in about 3 hours. I spent a day with my son's family and then he drove me to the sea port terminal. My son Oleg is on the picture below.
I had never been to that terminal before. Usually, I travelled to Finland by ferries of a different company and from a different place. I was surprised how pretty it looked. A mosaic walkway looked like a carpet showing scenes from Tallinn's history in giving information about it in four languages - Estonian, German, English and Russian.
Through windows, I could see a port square and some Old Tallinn buildings and the ferry we were going to take a voyage on.
On board, I settled on a soft sofa with a comfortable table in front of it.
The place I chose was in the huge salon in the bow of the ship. There is a stage there but they did not show any performance that time.
The weather was dull but Tallinn was still seeing from some distance when the ferry
There was a pleasant surprise when we were leaving the Tallinn bay - a Christmas tree in lights on the edge of the pier.
I found a performer in one of restaurants on the deck and stopped to listen to him playing the guitar and singing a beautiful song. When I started talking pictures, I got his friendly smile 馃槉.
Two hours and a half - and we are in Finland. We were passing by lots of small and even tiny islands. Unfortunately, the dull weather and not ideally clean windows did not let me take good pictures of them.
And here we are, in Helsinki. I was taking pictures of the ship mooring, then I put my jacket on and left the ferry. That was the moment when my trip had to be destroyed completely, but it was not, and I am extremely grateful to the girl and the young man for that. They noticed my telephone left on the table in the lounge. Luckily, they remembered who was sitting there and rushed to find me and say about that! It was like a miracle that they found me not far from the ship.
After entering the ship again and running upstairs to the 7th deck (all lifts were full of people) I happily sighed - my telephone was waiting for me in the empty hall. What a relief! With all the further tickets in my telephone, I was able go by coach to the town where my friend lives - two hours of more travel.
To say that I was happy and grateful to the wonderful young people means to say nothing! I met them again at the port tram stop and asked to take their picture. Here they are
Some pictures of Helsinki from a tram windows on my way to the coach station.
Helsinki coach station is located on the ground floor of a big department store. It meets visitors with winter decorations. I had
On one of the floors they placed something very special. Huge figures from ballet "The Nutcracker" were first which attracted my attention and made me go there.
When I approached the place, I was amazed - it looked like it was moved from the Bolshoi Theater! 袗 toy ballerina of a human size was dancing/rotating in the middle of a "stage" reflecting in a big round mirror.
Only when I came closer, I saw a hologram of a real ballerina dancing inside the white white tube above the toy girl. What a fantastic installation! Bravo to the author of the project!
