Last weekend, when I asked my friend to drive me to the forest for mushrooms, he definitely thought that I was crazy. It is November outside, and the air temperature was +6°C that day. What mushrooms could be? Well, I was happy he at least agreed to a walk in the woods. Hooray! The fact that I took a small bucket and a knife with me - it was my own business :).

According to our tradition, we went not in the morning (after all, it was going to be just a walk in the nature), but early enough to be there before dusk. In Estonia, a northern country, it is already dark after 4 pm this time of a year.

The forest, spruce and pine, was beautiful even in this, rather cloudy weather, although all the colors turned out to be rather muted in the photo.

At first, I decided that my friend was right - indeed, what mushrooms can be in almost the middle of November! Even toadstools (let me call so all not edible fungie which I met) came across only in such a miserable form, touched by night frost. Well, I decided that for the "photoshoot" they will do. luckily, there were enough "photomodels" in the forest.

This one looked beautiful, didn't it? Quite freaky, I think.

When I went deeper into the forest, quite live specimen began to come across.

My eye caugt such a prety natural composition on the ground and, of course, I shoted it to share with you. Due to the twilight and cloudy weather, all the colors were muted and I added them a bit by editing. I hope you will forgive me for that.

I noticed such a bright wonder from a distance. It was shining on a bare branch of a wild rose bush. I had never seen anything like that before. Is not it AMAZING NATURE ?

What a blessing that we have Google Almighty! And here is the result of my research:

Galls are abnormal growths that occur on leaves, twigs, or branches. They may be simple lumps or complicated structures, plain brown or brightly colored. There are 1500 species of gall producers, the majority of which are insects and mites. Some galls form where insects or mites feed or lay eggs. They may also develop as a response to infections by several kinds of fungi, bacteria, and viruses. Galls affecting leaves are seldom if ever a serious problem. Galls affecting twigs, such as the gouty oak gall and horned oak gall, can be more serious. Sounds creepy... but how beautiful it looks! I barely restrained myself so as not to fall into philosophizing on this topic.

And suddenly - isn't it a good finding? Here is such a stone with a variety of inhabitants - mosses and lichens, firmly settled on it. How could I had missed it before?! And after all, it is not my first walk here! I think this stone can be quite suitable for the @bucipuci contest. Is not it bright and beautiful?! Or will galls still be better?

Some more findings that day: such an old forest stump overgrown with moss,

probably, also some kind of moss, surpizingly white,

and a follen tree with a fungus.

A walk... yes, to have a walk is nice, but all this time my eyes continued to look for what I started all that for - mushrooms for dinner. You may not believe me, but I found them! There were no very young ones among them, but there were also few very old mushrooms. We met a woman from a nearby farm and surpised her. She told us that she found some mushrooms there on the previous Sunday and was sure they were already the last ones for this season.

Among the yellow bolete fungus found, almost all were untouched by worms. There was even one quite decent saffron milk cap.

To say in general, for just an hour and a half of a pleasant walk, the “catch” turned out to be not so bad, and I had mashed potatoes with fried mushrooms for dinner that day.

Когда в эти выходные я предложила своему другу съездить в лес за грибами, он, мягко говоря, решил, что я спятила. На улице ноябрь, температура воздуха +6°C. Какие могут быть грибы?! Согласился просто на прогулку по лесу. Ура! Ну, а то, что я прихватила с собой небольшое ведёрко и нож - это никого не касалось :).

По нашей традиции, выехали мы не утром (ведь просто погулять на природе едем), но достаточно рано, чтобы быть там до наступления сумерек. В Эстонии, нашей северной стране, в это время года темно уже после 16:00.

Лес, еловый и сосновый, был красив и в эту, довольно пасмурную, погоду, хотя на фото все краски получились довольно приглушенными.

Поначалу, я решила было, что мой друг был прав - действительно, какие грибы почти в середине ноября! Даже поганки (назову их так условно) попадались только в таком вот жалком, вымерзшем виде. Ладно, для фотосессии вполне сгодится, решила я. Тем более, что "фотомоделей" в лесу было достаточно.

Когда я прошла глубже в лес, стали попадаться и вполне живые экземпляры.

Вот такое яркое чудо я заметила издали на голой ветке куста шиповника. Увидела такое впервые. Чем это вам не AMAZING NATURE?

Галл – тип опухоли, характеризующийся ненормальными разрастанием различных частей растения, возникающей в результате механического раздражения или выделения токсинов, паразитирующими на растении микроорганизмами (грибами, бактериями), клещами, насекомыми, нематодами.

Галлы, как и другие разновидности опухолей, формируются в результате жизнедеятельности организмов с биотрофным типом питания. Часто воздействие паразита на растительный организм вызывает изменение гормонального баланса растений и провоцирует интенсивное разрастание пораженных органов или тканей вследствие усиленного деления клеток или их растяжения (гиперплазии и гипертрофии).

Жутковато звучит... А как красиво выглядит! Еле сдержала себя, чтобы не удариться в философствование на эту тему.

И вдруг - разве это не чудо? Вот такой камень с разнообразными обитателями, мхами и лишайниками, прочно прижившимися на нем. И как я могла не заметить его раньше? А ведь гуляла здесь не раз! Думаю, для конкурса @bucipuci этот камень вполне подойдёт. Вон он какой яркий и красивый! Или галлы всё же лучше?

Прогулка - это хорошо, но мои глаза всё это время продолжали искать то, ради чего всё это и было мной затеяно - грибы на ужин. Вы можете мне не поверить, но я их нашла! Молодых среди них не было, но и очень старых было мало. Как сказала встретившаяся нам жительница расположенного рядом хутора, она собирала здесь грибы в предыдущее воскресенье и была уверена, что это уже последние для этого сезона.

Среди найденных маслят почти все были не тронуты червями. Нашелся даже один вполне приличный рыжик. В этом месте моего повествования хочу передать привет @qwerrie :)
