They actually had fires inside with smoke flaps on the top and the shape would funnel the smoke up and out. Lots of fur blankets too I'm sure. :)

I've carried a sidearm before walking in the deep woods. It might deter a bear or just piss it off more. lol. In the end if I have that bear encounter I'm hoping to be able to scare it off but if he wants

That's where my thoughts went seeing these by the creek. What it must have been like when those were the main type of shelter.

Carless streets really do make walking around a town or city so much more enjoyable. Definitely would like to see more of that.
