I apologize if this sound like another beating of a dead horse to you, but I keep hearing discussion on this topic that makes me think the tax dollar that funded the education system is returning very poor value.
Lets me explain my view point why I call this political non-sense. Government is a redistribution agent and produce nothing they have to first tax everyone before they can pay anything out. (For those not understand please checkout this paper linked at the end of the post)
UBI is Welfare
This is kind of a walk-over really.
Currently Government redistribution works like this :
People are taxed, some get a refund or tax credit, some get nothing and our target of discussion bottom group get a welfare check.
So in comes UBI : People are still taxed and probably more, every one gets a refund call UBI. Has anything changed, how is it different than handing out a welfare check for the bottom group? It does not increase their ability to create value and gain economic reward and well new packaging or name is not going to make the product any better than it was.
