Political choice
In this age of information at your finger tips, there seems to be too little political choice. The decision seems to be hijacked by the few politicians/political parties which isn't doing a good job of serving the people.
This is not about who pay more or who pay less. I advocate there should be more choice for a portion of the tax fund for the non-critical parts of the budget so the people can really express their preferences and not year after year feel cheated.
Say the tax collected would be spent on interest payment (May be Swiss is the only country this is not applicable?) and keeping the bloated bureaucracy going then there should be certain percentage to be directed by how voters vote on the ballet.
For example you have choices like for voter to pick any number :
[] Pay down debt
[] Invest in Green energy
[] Provide tuition relief for University students
[] Improve human right elsewhere
[] Bigger pension for politicians
[] Build a border wall
The votes tallied would show how that pot should be divided according to the people's will in the percentages of vote for each item in the total votes. Hey may be the people are so happy about the job politicians are doing they all vote for a bigger pension for them...
Yes a little far fetched but I hope to see that happen someday and more of the decision is diverted back down to the people.
