2019 is going to be an ugly year for Ontarians when it comes to gas bill.
Gas price for non-contract household is going up on Jan 1 and average home should expect about 9-10% increase in the variable part of the bill ($20 fixed charge remains the same).
The second hit comes on April, after few months of relief thanks to Mr Ford and the PC, is the return of the much cursed carbon tax which adds another 15% to the variable cost. This is buried in the delivery charge and is going to be 16.75% higher than what the provincial Liberals had slapped on.
Ontario Carbon Taxes
These Provincial Carbon Taxes were in effect until Oct. 1, 2018:
Cap and Trade Customer Related Charge 3.3181 c/m3 (buried in the distribution charge)
Cap and Trade Facility Related Charge 0.0337 c/m3 (buried in the distribution charge)
Starting in April 2019 these Federal Carbon Taxes will be added:
Federal Fuel Charge: 3.911 c/m3
Federal Facility Related Charge 0.0025 c/m3
Mr Ford please continue your fight, I really don't want to pay 15% extra carbon tax that is not used toward fixing climate change if it even is really a thing that can be fixed.
