Welcome to my Tree-rific Tree Tuesday
Three weeks ago I shared these photos of a dogwood tree. The reason I shared them here is to show you how the tree has developed these little fruit like doers.
There were in the center of the flowers I believe and now the petals are gone and the fruit is growing larger.
While I was snapping shots, I noticed this bugger on the leaf.
We always called them Japanese beetles. I am not sure if they are from Japan or not, but that is what us kids called them. I do know they are bad for plants, but also somewhat photogenic!
The sumac is starting to make its "fruit" as well...
I dont think too many anaimals eat these as I see them still on the trees in the middle of winter!
When I think about evolution and the brutality of nature, I usually think of one animal displacing another animal. However, the struggle for survival is alive and well in the woods. Survival of the fittest seems to be the constant rule of life.
I know this is somewhat had to tell, but there is a normal sapling of a tree that has been totally bent over and mostly destroyed by the heavy amount of vine that has covered it!
The narrow leaves are from the sapling, the broad leaves are from the relentless vine!
