Yes Michigan is usually cold, but we are not cold enough to have a lot of brown leaves already. Sadly a lot of the trees I shot were dead. Many, like the owner of those brown oak leaves were a victim of our latest storm!
This limb that cracked off the side of this tree was about the size of many trees itself!
Others had been down for a while, yet beautiful in their own way.
Now this tree was was an unexpected find being that it is over a trail at the park.
This is basically deadfall that is being held up by a rotten and cracked limb that is pole vaulting it from falling!
Talk about a potential widow maker! Basically it is a set mousetrap just waiting for the proper nudge to spring it!
Speaking of death, plants of course are not immune from disease. My poinsettia lasted several years, but just developed this white dust problem. It had a good run and had a more years than most.
Although they say it is part of the circle of life, I am always glad to see not everything is doom and gloom or death and dying. Here we have a very healthy looking shag bark hickory.
Can you spot the hickory nut? If you were a squirrel you would! They go nuts for them LOL.
