This is my response to "(WE90) Weekend-Engagement POSTING TOPICS" You can also join the challenge here.
Thank you for going easy on us this week hahaha @galenkp. You make Fridays exciting to look forward to. I wish I can answer all these questions... They are all interesting.
Topic:
I am extra sensitive... I know the power of words and that's why I read more meanings to words than most people. I don't see words as just words, sometimes it could be a weapon and that's why sometimes if I intend to get under anyone's skin, I just know the right words to say.
I am a man of many habits and sometimes I don't even know how to sound my horn because it's hard to put into words the things I do, see or say. I see things others don't see and I've had situations where my friends told me they can't understand the kind of person I am. I like it... I like being the good odd one most people would love to run to just to hear the different perspectives I have on an issue and yes, I always think outside the box most of the time. I'm not sorry but I enjoy blowing people's minds away 馃ぃ馃ぃ馃槀馃ぃ馃槀.
I don't know how I always get to know but I know when someone is troubled... I know when someone needs help. There is always that urgency in my heart that makes me feel uneasy and I tend to go against the normal things I do just to be able to shake that feeling off. That feeling hardly goes away until I do something about it. I have many of those instances but for the sake of not making this post unnecessarily lengthy, I would just share an instance.
It was back when I was in Ibadan. I have this friend from my unit back then. She was doing her Master's Degree and she was from the South but came to the West to study. Her name is Pamela but I call her Ochanya. It's her native name and I have a habit of calling people names others overlook. I am a fan of calling people by their other name or native name (another strange thing about me).
Ochanya.
We were in a program that day and when I am in a program, I don't like engaging my phone, not for anything. I like giving attention to what was there for but in my spirit, my mind kept going to Ochanya. It was strange but I kept ignoring it because I don't want to bring out my phone to text her even though the nudge I had in my spirit was to text her and tell her I would love to see her and buy lunch for her.
I tried to push the feeling away but it kept coming stronger and that's one thing about me, I hardly know that peace until I've satisfied that desire...it rarely goes away and I've learned never to ignore it for too long. Sometimes I tend to not act immediately to see how strong it would get so I can take it more seriously because let's face it, sometimes some promptings come to your mind which doesn't make much sense 馃槀馃槀馃ぃ馃ぃ I am sure we have all been there.
I brought out my phone and finally, I texted her: "Ochanya, don't go home after the program. I need to buy you lunch." I said and locked my phone afterwards. I was unable to see her after the program because I was waiting at the back entrance but she left at the side entrance because she found someone going her way and she needed to follow that person but she called me. What she said humbled me and I was moved. I had goosebumps on my body that day and as I am typing this, I am having it right now.
She said she only said a simple prayer to God and said, "God, I just needed a sign that you still care about me. Whatever the sign is, I would take it, please." And that was the time my text came in and she said she got her answer. I was happy and at the same time, humbled. Indeed, we can be seated next to a broken person and we wouldn't know it.
Another instance where I got to know someone was hurting was when I tried to use an app for socials that I'd never used before. I was flipping through a series of images because I like meeting people and this particular lady struck me. There was something about her and I can't explain it... I still can't explain it because we are good friends even today. I reached out to her and told her I would love to be her friend and I just knew there was something I needed to do for her but I can't place it. It wasn't until we started talking that I got to know she had issues with her health and she just got out of a bad relationship and I was just there at the right time to ease her of those situations. Her name is Omolara but I call her Adunni. Hahaha, it's my weird ways again. That experience again left me fulfilled and I just have that knack for knowing people who truly need help.
Adunni
Lastly, for the sake of brevity... I had the nudge to get closer to this wonderful lady in Church as well... There was something about her but still, I couldn't place it. I got her number and told her I would love to know her more. She smiled and left. The next day, I chatted her up and I noticed it was on her birthday that her boyfriend broke up with her, how cruel. My relationship expert side kicked in and she was able to go through that process of healing and now, she is finding her feet. Her name is Joy but I call her Uchechi... (I warned you all, I love native names)
Uchechi.
I got permission to use their images from them and I would be sending them the link to this as well. It's nice for them to know that someone finds them worthy and important to be talked about because they are amazing humans.
I have that knack for knowing things, seeing things, understanding the pain people go through even if they didn't say a word. I see it in people even if I might not know what exactly they were dealing with. This is why I don't ever want to lose touch with my sensitive side because that's what makes me who I am.
Okay, let me stop here... I guess I didn't make it as brief as I promised to.
Thank you for your time.
