Watford hosted Tottenham Hotspur with both teams on the opposing side of the table - Watford hoping to stay far away from the relegation scrap while Tottenham hoped to break into the top 4 having played 2 games less than Arsenal who sits in 4th place.
Watford didn't have the best of first half as they were playing more direct with no real threat against Tottenham but in the second half, they rallied round and gave it a fight but unfortunately, they couldn't hang on to the stalemate as Sanchez popped up with a header in the 6th minute of added time to confine Watford to a defeat that didn't match their valiant effort.
Watford had the first real attempt of the game in the 2nd minute after Dennis was played in on goal but his trickery couldn't get him to beat Hugo Lloris with his tame effort that didn't match the brilliance of his dazzling feet. Tottenham on the other end had a chance with Hojbjerg just outside the box but he was unable to keep his volley down as the ball went over the bar after Lucas' delivery into the box was cleared into his path.
Harry Kane also had his effort on goal in the 19th minute after he attempted a strike just at the edge of the box but the goalkeeper was equal to it as it didn't trouble him at all. Tottenham kept on knocking on the door and got another chance with Reguilon. He found a small amount of space to power his shot in the 25th minute but the goalkeeper saved it.
The shocking moment of the game came in the 30th minute after the goalkeeper's pass for Louza was heavy for him and Harry Kane was found in his favourite position. His attempt at picking out the bottom right corner of the post went wide and you could see the shock even on his face.
Both teams tried to get one over the other with Lucas' weak attempt not threatening the goalkeeper much as well as Harry Kane's shot just outside the box that was parried away for a corner kick. Joshua King's attempt outside the box too was expertly saved by Hugo Lloris at the other end.
Tottenham Hotspur asked most of the questions from Watford who were holding on to their lives and a notable one was when Son was picked out in the box and his attempt to guide the half volley into the back of the net was met with the alertness of the goalkeeper who stopped the effort. Son looked destined to score but for the bravery of the goalkeeper.
Watford finally caved in the 96th minute after Tottenham won a freekick on the left side of the pitch with Son's delivery smartly met with the head of Sanchez and he guided the ball into the back of the net to give Tottenham the slender lead. The slender lead was enough to give Tottenham the win much to the disappointment of Claudio Ranieri and his men.
