This is the worst start to the season for Arsenal and all those connected to Arsenal would be concerned, hurt and have no reason for optimism after an abysmal start into the new season. Arsenal has now suffered 3 straight defeats into their Premier League campaign and with others getting points except for Wolves, Burnley and Norwich, they are all winless as at the time Arsenal got beaten by Manchester City.
Manchester City didn't take it easy on Arsenal at all. The possession, passes and also efforts on target were better than Arsenal's. Arsenal had only one effort in the whole of the game as they were caged by a more determined City side who were hell-bent on schooling Arsenal. Why not, since Arteta was once under the tutelage of Guardiola before taking the reigns at Arsenal.
Manchester City completely destroyed Arsenal by thrashing them with 5 goals and no reply. Granit Xhaka made it harder for his side as he was given the marching orders to reduce Arsenal to 10 men. It was a bad day in the office for Mikel Arteta and those involved with Arsenal would also feel the brunt of it and very soon they would start calling for the head of Mikel Arteta and rightly so.
It's the worst start to the season and it's understandable if the fans cannot take it anymore because this has been the reoccurring cycle for Arsenal, season in, season out just that it got worse this time around.
City got the first goal early in the 7th minute after brilliant work from Gabriel Jesus on the side of the pitch. He found Gundogan in the box with a perfect cross and he powered home the header with ease despite the effort of the goalkeeper to push it out. It was the start of the floodgate of goals to come.
The 2nd goal came in the 12th minute when an indirect freekick was delivered into the box. The ball evaded all the defenders and it fell rightly for Ferran Torres who guided the ball into the back of the net to double City's lead.
Arsenal had two chances too in the game when a cross to Saka hits him and trickled out for a goal kick and when Smith-Rowe tried to pounce on the mistake by Ederson inside the box but the ball managed to go off target. Arsenal also had a penalty shout when Walker brought down Tierney but the referee wasn't having it. Shortly after, Xhaka received his marching orders for a delicate foul.
In the 43rd minute, Gabriel Jesus bundled the ball home to make it the 3rd for City by compounding the woes of Arsenal - 3 goals down, one man down too. The 4th goal soon came in the 53rd minute after a brilliant outside the box placement. Hernandez carefully slotted a low curling effort into the bottom corner of the net, much to the excitement of the home fans. Arsenal capitulated.
Sterling had a moment when he came on. He came close on the side of the box but he was blocked off before another header was parried over the bar by the goalkeeper. He also had a curling effort flash wide off the post.
The final goal of the game came from Ferran Torres yet again in the 84th minute. It was an inch-perfect delivery to him right inside the box and he headed home for his 2nd goal of the game and City's 5th. No Harry Kane, no Ronaldo, no problem for City as they dispatched Arsenal with ease.
Arsenal are in a bit of a mess and they would need to drag themselves out of this before the season gets more intense and they would be in the relegation scrap. Not challenging for Europe is worse enough but that's when they should play their best since they have no European commitments but now they are still faltering.
