Week 3 was a week filled with surprises and I have to admit that I didn't see a lot of results coming. What a week it was and this is why we love the Premier League, isn't it?
I was expecting this to be one easy game for Tottenham but it wasn't meant to be. Wolves played with determination so much that Tottenham lost their rhythm. It took the brilliance of Harry Kane to win this game with a solitary point. There are still concerns as to why Wolves always struggle to score a lot of goals.
The new boys showed character and they are racking up the points already. I was expecting another win for them because Everton to me, looked like a relegation candidate for sticking with Frank Lampard and with Gordon to be sold next after the exit of Richarlison to Tottenham, I didn't expect much from Everton but it took the brilliance of one man again to get a draw for Everton and that man was Gray as the game ended 1-1.
I don't know what's going on with Leicester City for some seasons now but still, they have suddenly become average. They took the lead with Maddison's brilliant free-kick only for Adams to come off the bench and not only draw his side level but gave them the lead with two goals. He was close to getting his hat trick and the game ended 1-2.
This was a game I didn't think too much about. I was expecting a draw at least but Fulham showed they meant business and want to stay in the Premier League with a resounding 3-2 victory. I used Toney in my Fantasy Premier League lineup to replace the red-carded Darwin and he managed to get me 8 points because he scored a goal against Fulham.
We have to face the reality with Steven Gerrard and stop cutting him some slacks because we didn't extend the same courtesy to Frank Lampard. Aston Villa are struggling so bad but, shockingly, not many people are saying much about him and his team because they have been deceiving us with some good attacking football. This is a result business and this team should be judged accordingly. Crystal Palace won the game by 3-1.
This was the game I can say I saw coming because I expected Arsenal to win this game and they did with a 3-0 victory. Arsenal sits pretty at the top of the table being the only team to have won all three of their opening fixtures. I know they will still be reduced down to earth as the season progresses but they deserved the recognition for having such a brilliant start to the season.
I expected a draw for this game but West Ham continued their miserable start to the season after they succumbed to 2 well-taken goals against Brighton. David Moyes would need to work his magic again except there is no more magic in his wand.
I didn't see this coming. Leeds played with more spirit, more determination and assertion. They are a youthful side full of pace and power. They caused Chelsea a lot of problems and their new centre-back signing Koulibaly would miss the next game after receiving a second yellow card late into the game. It's hard to believe that Leeds United beat Chelsea 3-0 with Chelsea unable to score a single goal. What a weekend it was for Leeds and it's good for their morale.
If I was a betting guy, I would go with Manchester City winning this game by 3-1 but what a game it was. One of the best so far. Manchester City took the lead through Gundogan only for Newcastle United to race to a 3-1 lead afterwards. City turned up the heat and the game ended 3-3. If you asked Newcastle United to take a draw before the game they would have probably taken it. I totally enjoyed this encounter.
Another shock of the weekend because I expected Liverpool to win by 4-0 despite not being in the best of shape since the start of the season too. Manchester United turned up the heat - they pressed, recovered second balls and showed intensity with their approach and I was surprised. It was a game that lived up to the expectations and the game ended 2-1 in favour of Manchester United. I saw a different Rashford and Varane with Malacia and Lisandro Martinez showing they have a future at Old Trafford.
It was a bad weekend for my Fantasy Premier League. The shocks in the results affected my points hugely. Darwin's red card made me go with Toney since I can't afford Haaland. It was a terrible showing from my fantasy team and this is another setback. I was close to buying Martinelli but I didn't want to be docked 8 points so I just used my free transfer for just one player. I wish I got Martinelli because Saka isn't doing me any justice.
I have been reluctant to take Saka out because this Fantasy Premier League is tricky. Just when you transfer one player out that's when they will start performing at their best. I felt the same with Odegaard and Bernado and I was filled with regret. I think I will just stick with my guns going forward and hope for the best from the players I've selected. I am not happy with the points I got this week 3 at all. I need a miracle to make up for the 3 weeks I've been getting low points.
I've added Martinelli to my team for game week 4 and I would see what I can do again as the week progresses.
Thank you for your time.
