What a moment for Chelsea fans and despite the loss to Villa, they still managed to qualify for Europe by finishing in 4th place, thanks to Tottenham for doing the job for them against Leicester City.

Chelsea raked up the points when Thomas Tuchel came on board and you can see their confidence rise and determination increased but since the loss against Leicester City in the FA Cup final, you can see them struggle and their vulnerability has shown.

It is still a successful season for Chelsea considering where they were when Frank Lampard was sacked. They didn't just secure a top 4 spot, they have the opportunity of winning the UEFA Champions League against City come 29th.

Chelsea travelled to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa. Aston Villa turned up on the day and gave Chelsea a reality check ahead of their final with Manchester City.

Mason Mount should have scored first. On a normal day, he would have scored the chance he had in the box that he blazed over. Jorginho did well to pick out the running Azpilicueta. He fed the ball back to Mount who only had to keep his shot down but didn't and he blazed over the bar.

McGuinn dispossessed Kovacic in the middle of the park and raced clear on. He had the options of picking out his teammates but he went all alone only to missed the target narrowly.

Aston Villa took the lead after a low corner kick was taken and delivered into the box. Former Chelsea player, Traore raced to it and stuck it so beautifully that the ball found the back of the net with the help of a crossbar, 1-0.

Traore proved to be a thorn in the flesh for Chelsea and could have cost them the European place if Tottenham didn't help them out. He drew a foul right inside the box when he was clipped by Jorginho. The referee pointed to the spot and El Ghazi took it. He sent Mendy the wrong way to give Villa a 2-0 lead.

Werner thought he had scored for Chelsea to reduce the deficit but Azpilicueta was ruled to be offside but in the build up to that goal. Chelsea finally got their goal when Mount found Chilwell at the other end. His shot was pushed out by the goalkeeper but not after it had crossed the line. The referee gave the goal and Chelsea tried to claw their way back into the game.

Azpilicueta lost his head and his cool just before the end of the game when he lashed at Jack Grealish after having brought him down, he hit his face and the referee was having none of it. He gave him.a straight red card as Chelsea went a goal down and a man down.

The game ended 2-1 as Villa won Chelsea but Chelsea still qualified for the UEFA Champions League and also have a final of UEFA Champions League to play against Manchester City. It has been a good season for them so far but it could have been better. Considering where they were coming from, if after they sacked Lampard and they were presented with this opportunity, they would have taken it.

Congratulations to them and good luck for the Final.
