Title: Datura stramonium
The annual herb, Datura stramonium, spreads like a weed in fertilized regions and fields. Despite being dangerous in its entirety, the plant is frequently employed in both modern and conventional medicine. It contains the toxic alkaloids hyoscine-scopolamine, hyoscyamine, and atropine. The latter is responsible for delirium, restlessness, mental excitement, and hallucinations.
It's common practice to utilize this plant, especially the seeds, as a narcotic. Unfortunately, a plant overdose usually results in death.
I frequently encounter this plant while strolling around the fields. No one touches it since it is harmful to both humans and animals. It is one of the rare plants that successfully completes its life cycle.
It dries out in the winter and resembles people with extended arms.
