THE MAN OF FAITH
Many are aware of this popular story well stated in scriptures as regards the crossing of the read sea. Let us take a holistic appraisal of this event and how the saga unfolded. As we all know Moses the prophet of God is the protagonist of this story. He was the one sent by God to go deliver his people from slavery and occupation under the tyranny of the Egyptian and their Pharaoh. Along the line he encountered challenges he didn't bargain for or expected. First and for most he was wanted for murder in the same country he was sent to deliver his people. And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren. And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and his him in the sand Exodus 2: 11-12..
Even with this record , he went obeying the lord. Weighing all the troubles he faced in carrying out this supposed impossible assignment was the heaviest of all THE RED SEA. Standing before this unquantifiable obstacle, moses displayed faith by telling the Israelites that they should stand still and put their faith in God. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the lord, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace Exodus 14:13-14.
The above scripture were the very words of the man who had never encountered such barrier in his entire life, he demonstrated a rugged and dogged faith and consequently, the lord acted upon Moses dogged faith: And the lord said unto moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Isreal that they go forward, but lift up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea Exodus 14:15-16
THE DAUNTLESS LEADER
See it was not Moses who cried unto the lord but the children of Israel. Their cry was of frustration, self pity and murmuring. God had to address Moses above wherefore criest thou unto me? not because he was crying but because he represented the crying folks. It was not him that displayed unbelief but the children of Israel. But God had to listen to the faith displayed by moses when he told them to standstill and see the salvation of the lord and He told them to go forward.
Many at times were are told to embark on an assignment by God but the obstacles on the way are not spelt out to us. God knows we would encounter them to the intent that our faith and trust will be on him only to scale us through. Looking at the victory procured by Moses's faith here, three things were sacrosanct and deserves to be emphasized, they are The Rod, the Hand and the Sea .
THE ROD, THE HAND AND THE SEA
See the rod is typical of the word as captured in scriptures: And there shall come forth a rod from the stem of Jesse Isaiah 11:1a. The rod here being Christ, and Christ being the word, hence it was said to moses : And thou shall take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs Exodus 4:17.
The hand is typical of whoever holds the Rod and the way and manner of holding the Rod is by faith, While the sea is typical of insurmountable and trying situations that befalls us. It follows that there must be a Hand holding a Rod being stretched over the sea.
Honey it will interest you to know that the Rod/Word is always constant. Its efficacy never changes. It is the Hand/Faith that holds or exercise Rod/Word that counts. In the same vein, the Rod/Word is typical if the sword. See, it is the one who wields the sword that determines the extent at which he pierces it. Our Hands are the Hands of faith wielding the Sword or Word of Truth over every Sea or Oceanic situations we face. Just as moses, the lord would have us hold tenaciously the word, stretched over the seas and circumstances of life. The lord would have us to exercise our faith in the Word over the seas of life.See, much as the Word of the Lord is quick and powerful (Heb 4:1), it can only guarantee results when there is a Hand/Faith that holdsor exercises it (Heb 4:2).
Moses only exercised his faith on the word and the lord did the rest. Sweetie, this is very instructional. Our business should not be how it would be done ? only mix or rest your faith on the word. The time it would take and the manner it will happen is His call. Our problem is that we want to understand how it will happen. Honey, it is time we went forward. It is so foolish to do considering there is the red sea ahead of you but an act of faith on God's word is the greatest foolishness to men. Now, let us go forward if only the Word is not just held with our hands of faith but equally stretched over the seas of life. Glory!! Rise up with the Rod in your Hand and Stretch it over the seas of life .
