"I didn't even get an interview for a job as a dishwasher!"

I said that out loud as I walked to the park after checking online to see the progress of a job application.

"Will I ever get out of this rut?"

Regardless, I was going to go to the park to spend some time in nature. So I walked with hunched shoulders, a frown, and with a dark cloud hovering above my head.

I began a hobby which I had to abandon soon after, because I ran into money trouble and had to sell my equipment.

Photography.

Procrastination being my middle name meant that I didn't use my equipment often, but when I did the world would melt away, and I was just focused on snapping.

So when I got to the park, I pulled out my brand new second hand smartphone. Without any intention other than wanting to take photos, everything I was worrying about became a distant memory, as I looked through the photographer's eye.

Recently the person who introduced me to photography died, and it only impacted me today. Someone suggested that the best way to honor their memory was to continue with photography... Even if it's just with my smartphone.

As the saying goes... "It's not the camera, it's the photographer."

To anyone reading who may have abandoned a hobby that gave them 'something', there's no day like today to take it back up again.
