It has been a great delight ever since I join this fantastic platform. I call it "fantastic" because I never believed a website could one day spring up to reward its member monetarily for merely posting their thought and what they have interest in while they also socialise. Some historians blessed their star for been born during the time of Hector and Achilles, some bless their star for witnessing great empires and conquerors. I bless my star for being born to witness the birth of a rebirth. A rebirth of the long lost spirit of altruism and humanism. In this world of atomistic individualism and its consequent sactioning of greed and gluttonous amassing of wealth, showmanship philanthropy to launder the image of the exploiter, selfishness driven inventions to cheat and drain the others, it is almost a miracle that some people could still find it paramount to put people first and try to help them in solving the most pressing problem of their life which is lack of money.
Today I am celebrating having reached 100 numbers of followers and I am dedicating my today's post to celebrating the minds behind steemit: Ned Scott, Dan Larimer and the entire team that press on despite the challenges even when they are under no obligation to do so. They are the true hero of humanity in this age of "each man to himself" and will remain forever cherished in our heart.
I have read in many online news that steemit as fraud and ponzi scheme. I have read that there is a covert arrangement unknown to most of the steemit community whereby only the very few are made to become whales with significant upvote value, others are just mere puppets in the grand scheme being enticed with money with no real value just to populate the steemit community. I want to believe what I read is true, even though I can testify to seeing those who have turned their money made on steemit into real fiat money that they spent in real life. And these people are thousands of miles away from the people and the place where steemit idea was birthed. To them I say "thank you". I just want want to contribute my quota to make this altruistic idea work. If a tree sprouts in barren desert, don't we sometimes feel the obligation to encourage it to blossom by pouring a little water by its roots? That is the same emotional obligation I have for steemit. In a world where people are more concerned with "how much I can amass because I want to be named as one of the world richest by Forbes," of you see someone pointing to how much each and every one can amass out of his or her honest toil, and in trying to uplift each other, don't you think we are duty bound to help such an idea germinate and blossom?
In view of these, I have some important advice for steemit team; those technicians working day and night to make steemit work. These advice stem from my observation of the platform and how it operates in the little time that I have joined the organization. These are my suggestions on how to improve on the platform to make it more enjoyable, fun and easy to use:
- NOTIFICATION - The very first thing I noticed is that our personal pages on steemit are full of buttons like blog, comment, replies, wallet etc, but these buttons don't notifify us by red pop-ups, swelling of the characters or any other ways for us to know there is an update on them. For now we don't know when our post are commented on or our replies replied. A small red numbers could just float on those buttons to signify we have new updates there. There features may be available on the app of the website like bsteem, I have not used bsteem before,i used Chrome, but there is no problem if we have it when we use browsers to access the website too.
- RED ALERT BUTTON - I hereby suggest there should be a red alert button beside that of the wallet which gives update on a number of phishing links and other dangerous links people should avoid like plague. Fine, steemit may deactivate those link from working on their website but what in case a person is lured to discord platform or any other chat platform and from there a dangerous link is sent to him to click on where the link request for your steemit password to create account. A green horn in cyber world new to steemit may likely fall for this. I don't know if fundition is part of steemit in this respect.
- DRAFT MEMORY - I wish steemit can also emulate other popular social media platforms where you can type as safe it if you don't what to post it immediately. This will help quality of posts. Though when I'm typing the page always say draft saved, I discovered that once I leave the page my draft is lost forever because there is no place I could go in the website to recover and continue with my posts.
