I'm in the middle of the end of a marriage. Honestly, though, it's been so long coming that I already feel so moved on. I know I'm not- my stuff is all here and I haven't gone anywhere yet but suddenly the things I own and wanted to own matter so very little in comparison to the things I want to do, places I want to go and the person I want to be. Where I used to see belongings, I just see stuff. I do sometimes have to remind myself that it's okay to stop wondering how the other person is doing or handling things or what they're up to. Because he will have a life after I'm gone that I'm choosing not to be a part of. When does it start being okay for me to let that exist? Here. Right here. It starts the moment it's treatment I expect. I want to look forward. Not back.
It's okay, after awhile, to look back and make sure that people who mattered to you are okay as long as you can be honest with yourself about why you're looking in the first place. Sometimes people in the past can be part of your future, as long as you grow from past experiences, learn to communicate, decide for yourself (ON YOUR OWN!) what you want from your future and who you want to be going forward. Grow and learn, grow and learn.
