Our world is evolving with each passing day, and I am glad for how far the trade (buying and selling) aspect of our world has evolved. We all know how at first all we had was trade by barter, and then we moved towards looking for legal tender to use for buying. Our forefathers even used things like cowries and so many other legal tenders until we evolved to coins and paper money. Then we lived a life where everything you wanted to buy you had to have cash for. Then, after so many years, we evolved to cryptocurrency and cash transfers; all you need is your phone and internet connection, and you have nothing else to worry about.
Trust me when I say at least 70% of the world prefers a cashless transaction. Those days when people carry out huge transactions and are forced to carry the money in bags and briefcases to the location of the transaction, the amount of fear, discomfort and anxiety they have to deal with until the transaction is completed is something that words cannot describe. They will have to keep looking over their shoulders until they hand the money over and give their goods, and then the one who the money is handed over to takes over the fear, anxiety and looking over their shoulders until the money is safely put away as well.
When you carry out a cashless transaction, you don't have to deal with all of that; no one knows how much you are carrying in your phone unless they unlock it to see what is in there, but by the size of the bag, one can guess and know that the amount of money in there is huge. So cashless saves us a lot of stress; instead of having to carry multiple cards so as to be able to transport the bags of cash, one just needs their phone and one card, thereby drawing even less attention to themselves. Everything about a cashless transaction gives it advantage over a transaction where cash is used.
For me, I prefer a world that actually uses a combination of both cashless and cash transactions. As much as a cashless world will be good, in a cashless world we will be kicking a lot of people out of business, especially the elderly who cannot operate or carry out a cashless transaction seamlessly, and choosing a cashless world will seem unkind and selfish, a world where we only consider ourselves and do not think about others. For our world to function properly, we need both the old and young in business and not just the young.
Choosing a cashless world means choosing a world where only the young stay in business while the old are forced to leave, are frustrated or are forced to look for those who would help them manage their finances, thereby putting them at risk of losing it to scammers or even thieves. I love a cashless world, but we have to consider others as well, and like I said before, everyone has a part to play for our world to function properly, both old and young.
