Hello, everyone.

I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learners Featured Post. There are things we do in our homes to avoid involving professionals because hiring them means spending outrageous amounts of money on something that could have taken us a few minutes to get done. Many times, I have hired a professional to get a task done, only to end up regretting it because I believe I could have done a better job than the professional. For that reason, I most often trust myself to get things done better than a professional. I believe we all have that feeling about ourselves too, there are task that when we leave them with a professional we feel rstkess until they either deliver or our fear becomes our reality.

Many people trust professionals completely because these professionals have never failed them before. I have had many terrible experiences with professionals. I cannot say whether they are trying to cut costs and end up doing the wrong thing or whether they intentionally do the wrong thing to see the customer's reaction. Some people give professionals a job and then go and relax, hoping they will deliver what was instructed. However, I don't think I have a professional I trust that much because I will keep checking in to ensure everything is being done as we agreed.

I once gave a professional laundryman my white hoodie to wash, instructing him to use Jik and wash it properly. I was going to pay him for the service. He told me his charges for using Jik, and I made the payment. Three days later, he brought my hoodie back in worse condition than when he took it, saying his apprentice was at fault. That was how I lost my precious hoodie. I almost cried. Funny enough, I could have washed it with Jik myself, but I decided to give it to a professional, only for him to destroy my clothes. Until I see the end result, I don't feel relaxed or at peace. The outcome of the professional's work determines whether we stay in business or whether that is the last time we do business together.

One of the many things I do myself is my laundry. I trust myself to be more careful with my clothes and to know which ones to soak separately to avoid losing clothes as I did because of the laundryman. He only refunded the money I paid for the service and never mentioned compensating me for the damaged hoodie. Sometimes, when you visit a laundry shop and see how careless and nonchalant some of them are with people's clothes, you will prefer to do your laundry yourself. I also do a few carpentry jobs, such as fixing wooden tables, wooden stools, and nets on windows. This has saved me from the stress that comes with giving instructions and supervising.

There are so many things I can do comfortably without involving professionals, and I will not regret it in the end. It has been going well for me, and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon because, in some cases, I trust myself more than I trust the professionals.
