Since the start of BlockArcade we knew we wanted to have swag in the prize exchange, it just makes sense! The big question has always been, "How do you give away physical items in a digital arcade"?
NFTs or non-fungible tokens are similar to traditional tokens like IOST except each token has a unique ID associated with it. This means each token is unique, and it allows you to identify specific tokens and assign them specific meaning.
We wanted a way to sell the t-shirts in the prize exchange, limit the total supply and also give users a preview of the item the user is buying. NFTs solve this perfectly by allowing us to create tokens with limited supply and attach an image of the shirt to the token.
Here's how the process works:
That's it! There's only 20 of these tokens minted, and only 9 left in the prize exchange. For now we only added 10 shirts and we will work on automating the process of redeeming the NFTs in the future.
Currently the StackWave shirt is 200,000 TIX which is a pretty large discount. We want to reward our true supporters!
We plan to see first how users respond to the NFTs to know if we should continue down this route. Our NFT viewer has been started and you can find it here:
Here you can see the image attached to an NFT, the token description, the token supply, ID, and owner.
We will continue to work on the NFT viewer, and plan on adding more BlockArcade and IOST t-shirts to the exchange to give users more options!
