Low Water in The Netherlands

It has been hot in The Netherlands, with almost no rain, and the water levels in our rivers have dropped, like here in the river IJssel near Deventer:

The commercial transport ships are having trouble navigating this, but some enterprising daredevil has tried to cheer them up:

It says: "Always keep smiling".

I'm not so sure that is good advice, but the lack of commercial shipping does give more room for playing about in the smaller boats:

On the now much wider banks some typical Dutch jetsam has surfaced again:

Is has rained a bit since I took these photos, but not nearly enough to get water levels back to where they should be. I call on the Germans upstream to fix this by draining all their lakes into the river Rhine.
