The end of Sunday lunch with children and grandchildren only made Donatella wish that next Sunday would arrive as soon as possible. Sometimes some grandchildren even stopped to sleep and that was a wonderful and priceless gift for her. She didn't think that becoming a grandmother would give her so much satisfaction, at first it only made her feel older, as if their birth was just a symbol of the passing of time. But that was only the superficial part of the truth, the deeper part was that their coming brought new lymph and new light to life.

La fine del pranzo domenicale con figli e nipoti faceva solo venire a Donatella il desiderio che domenica prossima arrivasse il prima possibile. A volte qualche nipotino si fermava anche a dormire e quello per lei era un regalo meraviglioso e impagabile. Non pensava che diventare nonna le avrebbe dato tante soddisfazioni, all'inizio la faceva sentire solo più vecchia, come se la loro nascita fosse solo simbolo del tempo che passava. Ma quella era solo la parte superficiale della verità, la parte più profonda era che la loro venuta portava nuova linfa e nuova luce alla vita.
