I had an idea, It was a beautiful one. I felt it was too big for just me to run with. I shared the idea with a couple of people, so we can run with it together. Some decided to follow me while some mocked it. I was pleased, not minding those who gave me an outright NO, and we began to run.
We ran about a mile, it seems I was going too fast for them. I decided to slow down so they can catch up. Some eventually did, while others turned back, claiming it wasn't worth it anymore. With the few that followed me, we ran about a mile again, but still seem very far from the destination. they said they were tired, that I should run ahead, they will eventually catch up with me.
I ran a mile further, looked back, no sign of anyone coming. I decided to walk back, wasting valuable time and energy. I got to the point I left them, only to realize no one was there anymore. they had all turned back. I was bitter, tired and heartbroken.
Reflecting on the journey, then I realized: it was my idea, my race, my cross. Why on Earth did I want anyone to run it with me? I had wasted my time and energy, I should have been 3 miles closer to the goal by now. but here I am, back to the starting point again! I have learnt a bitter lesson, its the true. Its what is applicable to everyone and anyone. I have to run my race by myself. No one will run it for me, or with me. They will only come to the finish line to celebrate me when I succeed. Then they will like to associate with me. So much so if I made it. Its not that they are wicked, its just that they have to run their individual races too. They won't care if I fail. My dreams, ideas and vision,I owe a solemn obligation to fulfill. not for anybody, but for myself.
dear reader, such is life!
run your race...
