Steemit's friends,
with the image of this striking bush
known in Venezuela as Trinitaria,
I participate in the Deranged Photography Contest - Purple Theme.
The Trinitaria, for its splendid colouring and resistance in summer or rainy conditions, is a common adornment in the patios and gardens of houses as well as in squares and other open spaces in our cities. It also has a medicinal use as the infusion of its flowers is very effective in cases of respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, cough, asthma, flu. It also has depurative and diuretic properties and serves to purify the blood.
The leaves of this precious plant are green most of the year but during the flowering period its branches are adorned with bracts (foliate organs of different shades: purples, whites, reds, fuchsias, yellows...) whose main function is not to make photosynthesis if not to serve as protection to the flowers.
