Blood Maridian by Cormac McCarthy is a graphically violent "taming of the West" type novel yet it is fluid and stylish in it's own right.
McCarthy has an effortless ability to depict beautiful as well as horrific scenes of sunrises and desert life, to senseless attack on Indian villages and brutal scalpings.
This was a very good read until the final few pages. I don't enjoy let the reader draw their own conclusion type endings.
