There are hundreds, if not millions of different types of sounds on earth.
Some are pleasant to the ears, brining a sense of comfort and peace while others are the source of our uncomfortable state.
When different sounds are put together, it brings about something called music, which is pleasant to the ear, though not all music are pleasant to the ear.
Except hip-hop music which is see as life, the one sound I love so much as I love hip-hop is the sound of nature.
You know that moment when you are seating in nature alone, nobody to disturb your peace. Just you and yourself, Listening to the birds singing, the breeze blowing calmly on your skin, the crickets are making their own sounds, the sound of the soft breeze in your ears. This is the most pleasant and relaxing sound there is in the world, seconded by hip-hop music.
Though I love music, I do not like any type of music. As I indicated above, I love hip-hop music, I also love slow and relaxing music like FKJ by Ylang Ylang. I love sound of rainfall because it helps me relax, I actually downloaded the sound as an mp3 so I could listen to it in the night. It helps me fall asleep very fast.
Searching through the collection of the sounds I find unpleasant, the one sound that always come to my mind is the sound of friction.
This sound is really unpleasant to me and it makes me disoriented.
It is like this, when I hear a sound of friction, mainly that of a slippers and the floor (when sliding on the floor with a slippers), it makes me feel like my brain is being tempered with. I do feel like the sound enters deep inside my brain and the friction is happening between the two hemispheres of my brain.
I really hate this sound with passion.
Another sound I hate is music with lyrics that lacks meaning.
No doubt, some hip-hop songs lack meaning in their lyrics as the talk about the physical assets of a female. However, rappers like Eminem, Jay z, Andy Mineo, Kendrick Lamar, 2 pac, 50 cent, Rapsody e.t.c speak good lyrics in most of their songs.
But my country song? Nigerian song? Honestly, I find some, if not most of them I pleasant to my ears. 98% of them talks about female asset and do not pass out message to the world, unlike during the time of Fela Kuti. Back in those days, the music is really good, they have good lyrics and the beat are good too.
Though a handful of the present day beat are good, I hate these sounds because of the lyrics.
I don't actually know how people, my friends in particular come to love Nigerian music with the kind of lyrics it has but well, I guess one man's food is another man's poison.
I just hope they improve in their lyrics and pass good words to the listeners.
Thank you for reading ☺️
