Buying different things for diverse purposes has been a part of us and we must do this to ensure our optimal survival.

Sometimes, we get proud and happy of what we bought, while sometimes we regret buying somethings. Nevertheless, buying keeps us going.

There are times when I buy things from the market and feel proud of what I bought, and there are times when I buy things and felt like I did something stupid.

MY PURCHASE THAT MADE ME FEEL LIKE A WASTE OF MONEY

I will first share the bad before the good.

My dress code is always a plain trouser, and plain shirt. I can also wear a hoodie or polo and a jean trouser with a canvas and a face cap, I love face caps.

My friends on the other hand look really good when they wear crazy jeans, and crazy polo. They love it when they look like yahoo boys. They like to wear all these shinny designers clothes and they look really good in it.

Early last year, I decided to try out something new, something that my peers enjoy wearing and feel at the top when they wear. I decided to give crazy Jean a try, to see if I too will look good in it.

I went to the market, bought about two of such jeans and three designers polo which cost almost 48000 naira. I was not happy because of the price, but I had to buy the clothes because I wanted to change my looks.

When I got home, I wore the clothes and stood in front of the mirror to see how good I will look with those cloths on. While in front of the mirror, I saw an irresponsible looking rascal who knows nothing but womanizing, drinking alcohol and going to different clubs for fun. I could not recognize myself with those cloths on, so I had to remove them quickly before any body can see me in such clothes.

It dawned on me that I have wasted my hard earned money and I immediately started feeling like I made a stupid decision by wanting to change how I look. After that incident, I gave out he cloths, and continued with my plain cloths that are not too shinny.

THE PERFECT BUY

In the midst of all the waste of money, I have bought something that stood out and made me proud of my buying skills.

Few years ago, 2021 to be precise, I needed a new canvas but I had limited money. I didn't know what to do and I needed that canvas so I could use it to attend a function.

With the limited resource I had, I went straight to the ariaria market in Aba abia state, and I found the perfect canvas for me.

I asked about the price and they told me 10,000. I laughed, checked my budget and saw that it was 5000 for the canvas.

I didn't know where to start pricing from, so I decided to start from 2,000. I noticed from the sellers attitude that with more pressuring, he will give in to my price so I became persistent. We went on a pricing war and at last, we came to a conclusion.

Guess what the conclusion was?

After the pricing, he decided to sell the canvas to me at the price of 4000 naira.

Agreeing at such price, I had to check the canvas again to be sure it is original and not Aba made. After cross-checking and being sure, I became happy for a flawless victory.

I bought the canvas at a price below my budget and at the same time, i bought another thing with the remaining change. It was like killing two birds with a stone.

This canvas has lasted since 2021 till date and I have not sowed it, neither has it spoilt in any way.

THE LESSONS I LEARNT FROM THE INCIDENT.

From ths first incident, I learnt that I should not change my looks for anything. my looks are what makes me unique in my own way, changing it however will make me be another person.

From the second incident, I learnt that when beating a price, manipulation is the first key. The buyer should add some a touch of sentiment and also, give the seller good reasons to let that goods go at the desired price.

I appreciate your presence here and I hope to see you next time.

Thank you for reading ☺️
