I used to be that person who saw anime as cartoons and K-drama as women things. K=drama always have a story line of love - A rich guy sees a poor girl and immediately fall in love with her at first sight. Its a good thing though, but it is too good to be true in real life. Welp, this is one of the reason why i don't watch K-drama.

A few weeks ago, I was convinced to watch just one episode of K-drama, and guess what? I totally fell in love with K=drama. I know its awkward cause' this is coming from a guy, but then, I actually love the drama. There is this thing about it that made me like it. I can't really explain what it is though.

This post is not about K-drama's but I wanted to touch a bit about it. This post is an entry for Hive Korean contest. there are many topics we could write on, so, i decided to touch a little about K-drama. However, this post will focus on my favorite Webtoon. You can join the contest here.

Just like how i had a different perspective of K-drama, I use to think that Anime is a cartoon for children but i was totally wrong. My perspective changed when i watched Naruto. its not my favorite though.

With time, I became very addicted to webtoons and anime to the extent that i can hardly focus on another thing when i'm watching an anime. I have watched quite a lot of animes out there, ranging from romance, sports and action, the list knows no bound.

Over time, one anime that became my favorite is solo leveling. I started this solo leveling by reading the Manhua. I read every episode of it. I was even waiting for new episodes to come out so that i will read. Reading it was like watching an anime. It had this really good effect that left a long lasting sweet impression that makes you want to read it always.

Since 2019, i think or so, I began to hope for an anime. I thought there will be no more episodes, but then, my heart broke when i heard that Solo leveling author passed away. It was really sad. Even before solo leveling had an anime, it was already my favorite.

Welp, i became happy again when i started seeing more manhua episodes. What filled my heart with lots of joy was when i saw an announcement for solo leveling anime. I was filled with anticipation. I began to have expectations. I knew the anime will be a killer, and truthfully, it was. The only issue I had was Jinwoo's fight with Beru. It was really good, but I think the animation was not as good as the manhua.

My favorite charater in solo leveling is Sung Jinwoo. I love how the anime started. He started from being a week hunter that found it difficult to handle a goblin and reached the level where even National hunters depended on him for protection. He was Korean's top hunter. That was really impressive.

What makes solo leveling unique is that, unlike isekai anime where the MC gets over powered, Jinwoo started from scratch. He tasted death, pain, suffering, insults and many other negativity but he refused to become a villain. Imagine if Jinwoo was a villain in Solo leveling. I wonder who would take him out.

I could go on and on about what i love in solo leveling, but i guess it will be boring for people that don't watch K-webtoons. I guess i will stop the post here.

이 글은 한국 드라마에 대한 글은 아니지만, 조금 짚어보고 싶었습니다. 이 글은 하이브 코리안 콘테스트에 출품하는 것입니다. 다양한 주제가 있어서 한국 드라마에 대해 간략하게 이야기해 보려고 합니다. 하지만 이 글에서는 제가 가장 좋아하는 웹툰에 집중할 예정입니다. 콘테스트는 여기에서 참여하실 수 있습니다.

제가 한국 드라마를 보는 관점이 달라진 것처럼, 예전에는 애니메이션은 아이들을 위한 만화라고 생각했지만 완전히 틀렸습니다. 나루토를 보고 나서 제 생각이 바뀌었습니다. 나루토는 제가 가장 좋아하는 작품은 아니지만요.

시간이 지나면서 웹툰과 애니메이션에 푹 빠져서 애니메이션을 볼 때는 다른 것에 집중하기 힘들 정도입니다. 로맨스, 스포츠, 액션 등 정말 다양한 애니메이션을 봤습니다. 목록이 끝이 없을 정도죠.

시간이 지나면서 제가 가장 좋아하는 애니메이션 중 하나가 바로 '솔로 레벨링'입니다. 저는 만화책을 읽으면서 이 '솔로 레벨링'을 시작했습니다. 모든 에피소드를 다 읽었어요. 심지어 새 에피소드가 나오기만을 기다리며 읽기도 했습니다. 마치 애니메이션을 보는 것 같았습니다. 마치 애니메이션을 보는 듯한 느낌이었고, 오랫동안 달콤한 여운을 남겼기에 계속 읽고 싶어졌습니다.

2019년쯤부터 애니메이션 제작에 대한 기대감을 품기 시작했습니다. 더 이상 에피소드가 나오지 않을 거라고 생각했는데, '솔로 레벨링' 작가님이 돌아가셨다는 소식을 듣고 마음이 아팠습니다. 정말 슬펐습니다. '솔로 레벨링'이 애니메이션으로 제작되기 전부터 이미 제가 가장 좋아하는 작품이었으니까요.

음, 만화 에피소드를 더 많이 보기 시작하면서 다시 행복해졌어요. 제 마음을 가득 채운 건 솔로 레벨링 애니메이션 출시 소식을 접했을 때였어요. 기대감이 가득했죠. 기대감이 생기기 시작했어요. 애니메이션이 정말 재밌을 거라는 걸 알고 있었고, 사실 그랬어요. 유일하게 아쉬웠던 건 진우와 베루의 싸움이었어요. 정말 재밌었는데, 애니메이션은 만화만큼 재밌지 않았던 것 같아요.

솔로 레벨링에서 제가 가장 좋아하는 캐릭터는 성진우예요. 애니메이션이 어떻게 시작되었는지 정말 좋아요. 고블린을 상대하기조차 버거웠던 평범한 사냥꾼에서 시작해, 이제는 국민 사냥꾼들조차 그에게 의지할 정도로 성장했습니다. 한국 최고의 사냥꾼이었죠. 정말 인상적이었습니다.

솔로 레벨링의 독특한 점은 주인공이 압도당하는 이세계 애니메이션과는 달리, 진우는 처음부터 시작했다는 것입니다. 그는 죽음, 고통, 고난, 모욕 등 수많은 부정적인 것들을 맛보았지만 악당이 되는 것을 거부했습니다. 만약 진우가 솔로 레벨링에서 악당이었다면 어땠을까 상상해 보세요. 누가 그를 제압했을지 궁금하네요.

솔로 레벨링에서 제가 좋아하는 점들을 계속해서 이야기할 수도 있지만, 한국 웹툰을 보지 않는 사람들에게는 지루할 것 같습니다. 이쯤에서 글을 마무리하겠습니다.
