It seems that human beings by nature are unable to react to a problem in a preventative way. We would rather justify our destructive actions because it is easy to blow off big problems, say the science is flawed, or flat out deny the problem rather than modify our behaviors which would force us to look deeply at ourselves.

Ultimately, and sadly, most people will never admit that there is a problem until it is in their faces, undeniably and unstoppable.
