Man, I would love it if we could produce everything here again. I just don't know if the tariffs are going to do the job, though. One financial expert made a great point the other day. I will paraphrase, but it was something like this:

Let's say it costs $3 to make a product in Vietnam without tariffs, but cheap labor, and it costs $12 to make that product in a Texas factory with US labor and other costs etc. Now imagine you add a 300% tariff to Vietnamese imports. (I made it crazy high for illustrative purposes)

Even at a 300% tariff, the product only costs $9 to make. Which factory is the manufacturer still going to use?

I am trying to give these guys the benefit of the doubt, but I've yet to see any evidence from an actual economist that this makes sense mathematically.
